Indocement Wins 10 EPSA 2026 Awards for Environmental Innovation

Indocement and its subsidiary, PT Semen Grobogan, won a total of 10 awards at the 2026 Eco-Tech Pioneer and Sustainability Award (EPSA). The awards recognized environmental innovations implemented at the Cirebon Plant, Citeureup Plant, and PT Semen Grobogan.

The EPSA 2026 award ceremony was organized by the Department of Environmental Engineering at Diponegoro University on August 27, 2026, in Semarang, Central Java. The program recognizes companies that develop technological innovations supporting environmental protection and sustainability.

First held in 2023, EPSA brings together representatives from industry, academia, government, and society. In 2026, the event attracted 48 companies and 151 scientific papers across seven award categories: Green Power Innovation, Low Carbon Innovation, Eco-Hazard Innovation, Eco-Cycle Innovation, Hydro Smart Innovation, Ecosystem Protection, and Community Development.

Cirebon Plant Wins Six Awards

The Cirebon Plant received six national awards, comprising two Gold, two Silver, and two Bronze awards. The recognized programs covered emissions reduction, waste management, alternative fuels, water-use efficiency, biodiversity conservation, and reduced waste lubricant oil.

The first Gold award was presented in the Low Carbon Innovation category for a greenhouse gas emissions reduction program that uses wood chips as an alternative fuel. The second Gold award was earned in the Eco-Cycle Innovation category for the Integrated Waste Management Program at the BUMDes Mandiri Gempol Waste Processing Unit.

The Cirebon Plant also received Silver awards in the Green Power Innovation category for using corn cobs as an alternative fuel and in the Hydro Smart Innovation category for a Telaga Remis cleaning program designed to improve water-use efficiency.

Two Bronze awards were presented in the Ecosystem Protection category for a holistic and sustainable Java sparrow conservation program and in the Eco-Hazard Innovation category for reducing waste lubricant oil through the integration of engine oil use.

Citeureup Plant Receives Two Silver Awards

The Citeureup Plant earned two Silver Awards for innovations in ecosystem protection and carbon emissions reduction. The first was awarded to the “PROFITER DU SOLEIL” program in the Ecosystem Protection category. The program applies organic fertilizer and cocopeat during the rehabilitation of former quarry land using soil press blocks.

The second Silver Award was presented in the Low Carbon Innovation category for a maintenance and operations management program on the alternative fuel feeding line. The program is intended to increase the use of alternative fuel at Plant 8.

Together, the two programs address important sustainability priorities by supporting former quarry rehabilitation and advancing low-carbon innovation in operational activities.

PT Semen Grobogan Wins Two Gold Awards

PT Semen Grobogan received two Gold awards through its BRIDGE and G-FORCE programs. BRIDGE, which stands for Biodiversity Restoration & Endemic Species Defense with Grassroots, won Gold in the Ecosystem Protection category. The program focuses on restoring biodiversity and protecting endemic species through grassroots community involvement.

The second Gold award was presented to G-FORCE, or Grobogan Fuel Optimization for Reducing Carbon Emissions, in the Low Carbon Innovation category. The innovation optimizes fuels derived from agricultural biomass waste and refuse-derived fuel (RDF) to reduce CO2-equivalent emissions and increase the thermal substitution rate at PT Semen Grobogan.

Strengthening the Commitment to Sustainability

The 10 EPSA 2026 awards highlight the consistent efforts of Indocement and Semen Grobogan to develop environmental solutions across multiple areas. The recognized innovations include emissions reduction, alternative fuel use, waste management, water efficiency, former quarry rehabilitation, and biodiversity protection.

These achievements provide further encouragement for the company’s operating units to continue developing innovations that support environmental management, sustainable operations, and benefits for surrounding communities.
