Dr. Dominik von Achten, Chairman of the Managing Board of Heidelberg Materials, visited Indocement’s operations and strategic project sites in Indonesia on 12–13 October 2026 as part of his Asia trip.
The two-day programme included visits to Indocement’s Citeureup Factory in Bogor, the Jakarta Provincial Government’s Rorotan Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) facility in North Jakarta, and the ready-mixed concrete production facilities operated by PT Pionirbeton Industri (PBI) in Pulogadung, East Jakarta.
Dr. Dominik von Achten was accompanied by Roberto Callieri, Member of the Managing Board of Heidelberg Materials responsible for Asia-Pacific and President Commissioner of Indocement; Dr. Moritz Tischer, Management Assistant to the Group CEO of Heidelberg Materials; and Rajan VSV, Asia Director of Health & Safety at Heidelberg Materials.
The delegation was welcomed and accompanied by Indocement President Director Christian Kartawijaya, Vice President Director Jose Maria Magrina Vadillo, and Directors Antonius Marcos and Holger Mørch.
Exploring Alternative Fuel Operations at Citeureup Factory
The programme began on 12 October 2026 at Indocement’s Citeureup Factory in Bogor. Dr. Dominik von Achten and the delegation visited Plant 8 and the alternative fuel facility at Plant 11 to observe cement production operations and the infrastructure supporting the use of alternative fuels.
Alternative fuels form an important part of Indocement’s efforts to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels. The facilities enable materials with recoverable energy content to be used in the cement production process, supporting resource efficiency and the transition towards a circular economy.
Following the site tour, the delegation held a meeting with Indocement’s management team to discuss the company’s operations and sustainable business development initiatives.
Strengthening RDF Collaboration in Jakarta
On 13 October 2026, the delegation visited the Rorotan RDF facility in North Jakarta, where they were welcomed by Dudi Gardesi Asikin, Head of the Jakarta Provincial Environment Agency.
The visit provided an opportunity to observe how municipal solid waste is processed into RDF for use as an alternative fuel in the cement industry.
Indocement has established a partnership to utilise RDF produced at the Rorotan facility in its cement production process. This collaboration connects municipal waste management with industrial energy requirements, allowing processed waste to be put to productive use while supporting efforts to reduce coal consumption.
Visiting Ready-Mixed Concrete Operation Facilities
The programme continued at the Pulogadung facilities of PT Pionirbeton Industri (PBI), Indocement’s ready-mixed concrete subsidiary. The delegation was welcomed by Ali Osman Parlak, Vice President CCR APAC; Thomas Suryadi, President Director of PBI; and Victor Kurniawan, Deputy President Director of PBI.
Dr. Dominik von Achten and the delegation toured the Beton Control Centre and Pulogadung Batching Plant to observe PBI’s integrated operational control system and ready-mixed concrete production process.
The visit provided a broader overview of Indocement’s integrated business operations, covering cement production, alternative fuel utilisation, and ready-mixed concrete production.
The three site visits provided Heidelberg Materials’ leadership with deeper insights into Indocement’s operations and its collaboration with the Jakarta Provincial Government in utilising RDF. The programme also strengthened coordination among Heidelberg Materials, Indocement, and PBI in advancing sustainable business development and promoting circularity across their operations.
