PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Paser Regency Government to utilize refuse-derived fuel (RDF) as an environmentally friendly alternative fuel for cement production. The MoU was signed on 12 February 2026 in Jakarta, witnessed by Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, Indocement President Director Christian Kartawijaya, and Indocement Director Oey Marcos.
The RDF collaboration supports efforts to accelerate waste management in Paser Regency, which recorded more than 121 tons of daily waste in 2023. The regional government has already operated two Integrated Waste Processing Facilities (TPST)—TPST Janju with a capacity of 10 tons per hour and TPST Songka with a capacity of 5 tons per hour—that will supply RDF for Indocement’s alternative fuel usage.
Indocement President Director Christian Kartawijaya emphasized that the utilization of RDF from Paser aligns with the company’s commitment to expanding renewable energy usage and strengthening circular economy principles within its cement operations. The initiative is expected to become a national model for sustainable waste management collaboration between local government and industry.
Minister Hanif praised Paser Regency’s rapid progress and highlighted that RDF-based waste processing delivers economic value, reduces landfill burden, and supports the implementation of zero waste practices. This collaboration strengthens Indocement’s transition toward cleaner energy while supporting effective, efficient, and environmentally responsible waste management in Indonesia.
