Indocement Citeureup Factory reignited community creativity and waste management efforts through the plastic upcycling workshop, held on 2 and 10 February 2026. The program took place at two Environmentally Friendly Villages (Kampung Ramah Lingkungan/KRL): KRL Ragam Berseri in Leuwikaret Village and KRL Citra Berseri in Gunungsari Village, strengthening community-based waste management.
Participants learned directly from Aisindika Sari Dewi, owner of Ay Craft—an MSME partner of Indocement widely known for plastic upcycling. She shared hands-on insights on how plastic waste can be transformed into artistic, visually appealing crafts with market value, helping participants see real business opportunities in waste processing.
The program was designed in response to field observations that CSR partner waste banks have been using plastic waste for crafts, but their outputs have largely remained simple products with limited artistic value and market appeal. At the same time, rising demand has pushed Ay Craft to seek additional production units and a steady supply of raw materials, making collaboration a strategic, mutually beneficial step to improve product quality and strengthen the supply chain.
Through the workshop, participants gained skills to turn plastic waste into more creative, innovative, and higher-value crafts. Materials that previously had low uptake among collectors can now be converted into value-added products that may increase income for individuals and KRL organizations, while supporting circular economy practices in the Citeureup surrounding area.
A total of 28 participants joined the training, which not only enhanced their ability to produce market-ready recycled crafts but also opened partnership opportunities between Ay Craft and Indocement CSR partner waste banks—as plastic raw material suppliers and potential satellite production units. With this collaboration, the initiative is expected to foster an eco-friendly and economically sustainable waste-management ecosystem for local communities, proving that creativity can lead to a cleaner environment and promising livelihoods.
