Indocement reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development through a Local Endemic Tree Planting initiative in Bogor, held in commemoration of World Environment Day 2026. The event took place on Monday, June 22, 2026, and was attended by Indocement Director Oey Marcos, General Manager of Citeureup Factory Complex Setia Wijaya, Corporate Secretary Dani Handajani, Deputy General Manager Operation Support Retnawan Widhiantoro, CSR Manager Gadang Wardono, along with company representatives.
The event was also attended by regional government officials and key stakeholders, including the Head of the Bogor Environmental Agency Teuku Mulya, S.T., M.T., representatives from Citeureup District, Tajur Village, Hambalang Village, business partners, and the Bogor Verified Media Editors Forum. Their presence reflects the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in environmental protection and climate action.
Held at Tiga Roda Edu-Green Park, Citeureup Factory Complex, the activity included planting local tree species such as Binong, Kemang, and Sempur. This initiative not only symbolizes environmental care but also represents a concrete step toward ecosystem rehabilitation and the preservation of ecologically valuable local species in the Bogor area and beyond.
Indocement Director Oey Marcos emphasized that World Environment Day should be more than a ceremonial event. “This commemoration is not merely an annual agenda, but an urgent call for all stakeholders to respond to the escalating triple planetary crisis—climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution,” he stated.
He further noted that Indocement views environmental aspects as an integral part of its business and operational strategy. “Business success is measured not only by economic performance but also by the company’s ability to create value for the environment and society,” Oey Marcos added.
Globally, World Environment Day 2026 carries the theme Inspired by Nature, For Climate, For Our Future with the hashtag #NowForClimate, while Indonesia adopts the national theme “Time to Act for Climate.” In this context, Indocement sees 2026 as a pivotal moment to accelerate the transition toward a low-carbon economy.
As part of its commitment, a series of World Environment Day activities are also implemented across all operational units, cement terminals, and subsidiaries. These programs include localized tree planting, cleanup activities, environmental seminars, and other initiatives aimed at raising awareness and encouraging real action in both the workplace and surrounding communities.
In addition, Indocement continues to develop environmental innovations at the operational level, including improving energy efficiency through alternative fuels and raw materials, reducing greenhouse gas emissions through technological innovation, strengthening emission control and environmental monitoring systems, conserving biodiversity, rehabilitating impacted areas, and enhancing transparency and environmental governance in line with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
Through this Local Endemic Tree Planting initiative in Bogor, Indocement aims to foster stronger collaboration and shared responsibility in building a greener, more resilient, and sustainable future.
