A total of 34 students and accompanying teachers from the Heavy Equipment Engineering Department of SMKS Tunggal Prakarsa Tarjun participated in an industrial study and outing class at PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk. Tarjun Plant Complex from July 13 to August 24, 2026.
The activity was part of the link and match program between vocational education and industry. Through direct learning in a workplace environment, the students had the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and gain a better understanding of how heavy equipment engineering competencies are applied in industrial operations.
The group was welcomed by Indocement’s HCGAS Department Head, Yanuar Arif. During the visit, the students received an introduction to the company’s profile and corporate culture, as well as an overview of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) practices implemented at Indocement.
The participants were then accompanied by the Training team to the Technical Service Department, where they were welcomed by Technical Service Department Head Ricko Achmadi Putra and his team.
During the technical learning sessions, the students studied various topics related to heavy equipment, including an introduction to work equipment, basic engine systems, workshop equipment, engine and electrical systems, diesel engines, as well as hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
In addition to theoretical learning, the participants also took part in practical sessions covering engine and electrical repairs. They learned the fundamentals of 5R and contaminants and their impact on heavy equipment performance, the operating principles of gasoline and diesel combustion engines, as well as the functions of key components in hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
The students also gained insights into heavy equipment maintenance and repair. These sessions provided them with an opportunity to become more familiar with the technical aspects they may encounter in the workplace.
The students also had the opportunity to observe various facilities supporting the plant’s operations. This experience provided a real-life perspective on how the theories they learn at school are applied in an industrial environment.
Through this activity, Indocement continues to support the development of vocational students’ competencies by providing learning experiences that are closely connected to industry needs. For the participants, direct exposure to the workplace is expected to strengthen their motivation to develop their skills and better prepare them for Industrial Work Practice (Prakerin).
Indocement is among the companies participating in the government’s Industrial Vocational Education program, which aims to strengthen collaboration and link and match between industry and vocational high schools (SMKs).
