Indocement and Saint-Gobain Strengthen Mortar Business in Indonesia

PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk. (Indocement), through its wholly owned subsidiary PT Pionir Beton Indonesia (PBI), has officially established a joint venture named PT Mortar Prakarsa Utama (MPU) with PT Cipta Mortar Utama (CMU), part of the Saint-Gobain Group.

As part of this strategic move, PBI sold 60% of MPU shares to CMU. MPU currently operates three mortar plants located in Citeureup, West Java, and Lampung, Sumatra, producing flagship products such as White Skimcoat Mortar TR-30 and Grey Mortar TR-10, TR-15, and TR-20.

Indocement believes this partnership will create strong synergies in product portfolio, marketing, customer service, and distribution networks. Christian Kartawijaya, President Director of Indocement, stated: “This collaboration will unlock new growth opportunities in the mortar segment, in line with our commitment to deliver high-quality and environmentally friendly building materials. By combining our production efficiency and the strong Mortar TR brand with CMU’s distribution and marketing strength, we are ready to provide more comprehensive solutions for customers across Indonesia.”

Long-Term Strategy and Future Vision

This acquisition is part of Indocement’s strategy to reinforce its purpose of “Material to Build Our Future” and reflects its confidence in meeting the growing demand for housing and building construction in Indonesia in the years ahead.

Ivana Ijaya, President Director of CMU (Saint-Gobain Indonesia), added: “This partnership marks a strategic step for Saint-Gobain to strengthen its position in Indonesia’s rapidly growing market. It aligns with our purpose ‘Making The World A Better Home’ and supports our global expansion in the construction chemicals segment.”
